The common whitethroat is a summer visiting warbler to the UK. They are a difficult bird to photograph as they like to skulk around in deep vegetation. It took about a week of repeat visits, before and after work, to a particular male I had located before I started to get some shots I was happy with
This is a male in full song on one of five singing perches in his territory.
Taken with 1Dmk2N and 500mm. ISO400 at F4 0.33 EV at 1/800s.
Great BKGR, singing beautifully, perfect exposure. A small crop from top and bottom might strengthen it considerably.
laer and love, artie
PS: Revisting this image, I cropped it a bit as above and selctively sharpened the face with a Quick Mask and a contrast mask: Unshapr Mask: 15/65/0.
