Good details in the blacks, good pose for this long tailed fellow, like the visible talons.
I would be tempted to do a vertical crop of this image. His pose and perch would be a natural for a vertical, and it would eliminate some of the challenges caused by the varied background. I would also consider toning down the remaining brightest spots in the BG.

Though I am not a fan of variegated sky/vegetation backgrounds you have done as well as possible here: sharp with a pleasing exposure and a pleasing image design.

Art, I am finding that with the new 500 II lens I don't need to add that much contrast in PP as the images are very contrasty as compared to my 100-400, also there is less need for sharpening as images are plenty sharp straight out!
In this image the variegated BG was unavoidable but I did tone down the brightest parts a bit in PS. I felt the bird nicely pops out from the BG.
