I like the pose and the perch. The water BG, however, seems to overpower your subject a bit.

Nice bird and perch. Agree with Doug. Great detail on the back feathers. The bird's head is angled away from us. Working on the bird only and adding some pop would help.

Doug, one of the other members uses a gradient and removes the background. I may try doing that as I agree, the background interferes with the bird...Terry Johnson

Hello, I used the gradient steps that one of the other members suggested, and I like the result. It takes a lot of effort, but you get what you put into it...Terry Johnson:cheers:

Good first try but the change is much to abrupt to be real. Plus, there is a big mess in front of the bird's feet. I applaud you for trying something new but you need lots more practice :)

Artie, another try using the gradient. Let me know what you think and what you think I should have done. I tried to blend the gradient so it looks more natural as background.
