We have been watching this pair for a while as they decided to carve out a nest hole where we stand around and hope for an other
nesting woodpecker to fly in or out.
The angle is steep so much so that I can only take a few images and have a break.
The nest hole is more or less ready to move in. Took only a few days work for the couple.
Thanks for looking.

Karl:
Nicely balanced composition for a woodpecker, 1/3 trunk,1/3 bird, 1/3 bg.
Sharp, well exposed, nice head angle
Could you use a monopod to take some of the strain off?
Cheers

An excellent capture Karl. You've captured the colour subtleties beautifully. Well presented. Looks like you had some harsh light but you dealt with it well. Thanks for sharing.

Looks good Karl, it does not look steep. Well balanced comp, and the tree is particularly appealing. Hopefully in a bit you will get baby flicker heads poking out!

Hi Karl, lovely light, and you have captured excellent feather detail. I like the overall colours, and nicely posed against the sky BG.

Very nicely done...I don't find the angle steep. Track sharp, nice light and interesting trunk. Well done.
