Taken in light fog and overcast conditions, most of the background water was washed out, except for a few smudged areas. I removed these by raising the background contrast. Other work was to darken the eye, remove a few twigs near the feet, and selective detail extractor on the lightest areas.

Nikon D4 with 600 mm, tripod mounted, 1/1600 @f8, iso 1600.

All comments welcomed and encouraged. Thanks for looking.

Wow! I love the detail here and the reflection is wonderful -- perfect high-key image!

I could do with a little more on the left and less on top (about halfway to the top of the head).

Wow! The thumbnail doesn't do this justice.
I love the reflection.
Agree with Diane re: taking some off the top.
A lovely high key image,
Gail

John:

Nice shooting angle, preening pose. Agree about the crop.

I could also see a very low level multiply blend layer to give the birds plumage just a bit more pop. He seems just a bit washed out.

Cheers

What a beautiful photo! My first thought was to lower the crop on the top but the more I look at it I really like what you did. Great job.

Thanks all, I appreciate your comments. I like the suggestion for a different crop and will try Randy's suggestion as well.
