Here's a male Indigo Bunting I saw a few nights ago at a local park. Shot with my Canon 1DX and 600mm IS II with the 1.4x Extender III. Shot wide open at f/5.6, ISO 1600 and 1/125 (way slower than I'd like and you can see a tiny bit of blur in the bottom beak as a result). Cropped for composition in Lightroom along with some exposure/levels adjustments, noise reduction on the background in Photoshop. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful subject...I would probably take a bit more of the leaf
in the lower LHS out of the photo.
I make the mistake of shooting too slow to
save iso and it is usually a mistake.
The beak is not that noticeable but a faster SS would have froze and you can fix iso...

Beautiful pose and perch. I also love the complimentary bokeh balls. The complete tail would have been nice but I love this canvas as is... TFS

Nice image. Good singing pose and HA.
I wish the tail was fully visible and that your shooting angle had been higher to clear the tail and eliminate the lower leaves.

Thanks guys! Yeah I was hoping he would come down to a lower perch that was eye level but the very top of this tree was where he tended to stay. I think I actually shot this with my monopod on top of a rock to get a bit higher but it still wasn’t enough height.

I really like this one. It is a beautiful setting with that bokeh in the dark background. Great composition, details and exposure.
You donät really notice the blur on the beak at this kind of comp. The whole tail would have been nice though...

Really like the colors on this one. That blue bird just pops against all the green. Like the perch as well.

It's always a treat to photograph this species. You did a good job overall with accurate blues and a nice "fresh" perch. I'm on the fence about the oof circles in the BG...I don't hate them, but I don't love them either. I love the little claws peeking around that little leaf!

Yeah I wasn’t sure how I felt about them either, normally I’d associate bokeh balls with portraits but it just kind of presented itself and was different than a traditional smooth background. Think I still prefer that type of background over this. Thanks for the feedback!
