I've taken many Grebe shots before, but this is my first juvenile.

Very good indeed Paul, I particularly like the eye detail, the water is also shown well, DOF is good.

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks so much. Went back to the location today, but the Grebe wasn't there!

Great head-on stare here, and good low angle. I like the water texture, particularly in the upper-left corner. Comp-wise I would have preferred the grebe more to our right. Did you need to reduce a bluish cast?

Hi Daniel. Thank you for the feedback. Yes to more to the right, but no colour cast adjustment.

Paul, cute little fella you got there. He pop nicely against the dark greens and love the calm waters.

Down the barrel is nice, glad he was squared up. Plenty of detail there.

I, too would love it more right and I think you do have a blue cast that could use a little warmth (see the chin and body where it meets the water).

Good job overall, just minor tweaks.

Very nice eye contact in this head on view! I actually like this placement in the frame and probably wouldn’t like it as much if it were placed more to the right.

Thanks Kurt...I tend to agree re the placement:S3:

Love the fluffed up body feathers and the way you handled the refection. All in all very well done.
