No wonder they are called waders. Just after a rainshower the sun peeked through the clouds. The light was real nice

Very nice light, composition and angle. It would be great if the little drop on the bill were more visible.

This Godwit was photographed in the Netherlands, Friesland. Friesland is one of the most Northern provinces in the Netherlands. It is where i live and organize workshops.

I can not help you with the exact age, but I think it is young young female. The picture was taken 1 august. Breeding season in the Netherlands is end of april till early june

I think it is an adult in winter plumage. The juvenile in winter would have more scalloped secondaries it would also be more rufous in tone.
