Here is another image from my outing on Saturday. I missed this one on my first pass looking at my images, but I like this one better than the other one I posted.
Shooting info: Canon 40d and 100-400L IS lens at 235mm. 1/3200 sec at f5.6, +2/3EV, with fill flash.
On the previous image I posted, my flash did not fire and the underside of the wings was underexposed.

I like the detail on the wings and body. Most of my egret shots the neck is straight and the S-curved neck is a standout here

Nailed it!
What else could I say? :)

Excellent wingspread Tim. I love the details underneath indeed. FF makes all the diff, yes. Congrats! Only a slightly better head angle would have placed this above the top, but still great as is presented. :)

Great exposure in soft light and its shining through the wings. He seems to be going away from you a bit. Nesting material is a big plus. He must have an established nest since the green is fading off the lores.
