The BG is a dark tree and bush.

I like the eye contact and sharpness of the head. The BG is quite nice. I might selectively sharpen the neck. I like your choice of aperture; DOF can fall off rather quickly with these poses by birds with long bills.

I love the way the eye "lights up" the image, and I am a big fan of portraits like this where the detail is so visible. I really like the lighting and the exposure seems perfect to me. The only thing I would change is the composition- I would give more room at the top and a little less room to the right.

Fine and dandy on the techs and the light and head angle. Yes to a bit more room above. And, more room in front of the bird. You have more room behind the head than in front--that should be reversed.

I agree with the previous comments re composition but feel in addition that the beak is sharper than the eye and neck. You must have been really close. Love the exposure. Best, JR

Very nice! It has a nice 3D feel to it. The color and details go nicely together.
