Hello everyone!

I just returned from my annual Ecuador workshops last night. What a great time we had down there. A month of hummingbirds, Toucans, Tanagers, Owls and so many more fantastic birds. At one of our stops on the east slope the lodge was feeding this White-bellied Antpitta. After watching its behaviour on one morning I decided to try a set up shot the next time around. I was quite pleased with the result :)

Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
Shutter speed: 1/20 sec
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 1600
Focal length: 500mm + 1.4x

Excellent image under tough lighting conditions! I like the pose, setting and BG. A little tight in the frame but still a beauty.

Great set up with a lot of environment to it. Nice pose and details with a nice green BG really makes this one pop.

Me, I'm opposed to set-ups but when I look at this I feel I should get off my half-hearted moral high horse and understand that this is how many folks achieve bird photographs that are, as they say "at the next level" and I'll conclude by saying that i like everything about this photo. I'll offer this post-script: you have some staggeringly good shots on your website too. A great blend of natural history, and some highly appealing bird illustrations, artfully rendered...

I like the ideal combination of razor sharp on the subject, some IF foreground/environment and the nicely BG!! Very nice Glenn!

Lovely image - it's a great setup environment. I particularly like the curve of the plants on the left and the framing plant on the right. I wish for a little room on the top and perhaps toning down the yellow semi-circle in the bg at the bottom.

Wow!!!! What a beautiful bird and excellent set up. Very natural looking set up. Incredibly sharp for such a slow ss. Beautiful colors, great pose, and excellent comp.
Well done.
