On a recent Texas Gulf Coast trip, one of the birds I hoped to get a good shot of was a painted bunting.

Dealt with some wind and tough shooting conditions but kind of liked his perch here. Thanks for any feedback.

Nikon Z9, 600 f/4 TC VR S; 600mm, 1/800, f/4.0; ISO 350
 
Hi Paul,

Gorgeous looking little bird - no wonder you wanted the shot!

The bird looks very nice- crisp and clean, very sharp where it should be and nice detail.

I would like to give him more space in the frame - it looks a little cramped in my mind - individual preferences!

A species I'd like an image of.. and quite good, it has a look of an image that's been over cropped with a significant amount of noise reduction followed by excessive sharpening.
 
Paul I suspect you have an excellent file there i would suggest less is more though I may be treading on toes here. I think everything is a little too much .....ISO 350 and Z9 if well exposed I would imagine the image would require minimal processing.
