Here's another painted bunting in morning light; liked the perch, though the branches in the lower right were a little annoying, not sure if they detract too much from the image or not. I do prefer him perched here vs. higher up as they tend to sing from treetops more often.

Paul a beauty of a fine looking bird. Colors are fantastic just a little too large in the frame. I do like the foliage in this shot. I do think it adds to the overall image. I really don't find anything distracting with the foliage. I would tone down the brightness of the leg TFS

Hi Paul this is by far the best of your recent postings , purely at first from the technical ( processing ) POV . Obviously no use use ( or lesser ) of fancy tools in LR/PS or other piece of software .
Subject looks great and attractive ... setting is fine for me personally .... no need to remove any foliage .
I would go with Kevin and his thoughts about being a bit tight in the frame

White balance maybe a touch to warm , but this is just matter of taste

    Very nice overall

    TFS Andreas
