Canon 50D, 300mm2.8+2xTC, 1/200, f10, ISO 800, flash fill.
Forgot to reduce the ISO, had been shooting BIF's. Too many buttons!!!
Crop for composition, NR, sharpening, some color adjustments.
Hi John. Good job! and excellent exposure and feather detail with a dark/light plummaged bird that has inherent exposure challenges. About you forgetting to reduce the ISO- good thing because ISO 800 is completely appropriate. Dropping the ISO would cause you to either decrease the aperture, which again F10 with a large bird seems appropriate, or drop the shutter-speed, which may very well have blurred the image.

Nice look back. Great detail in the dark back feathers. I quite like the leaves in the BG, which match the beak of the bird. The bare branch on the left could be removed. The main issue for me is the tightness of the bird in the frame. Some more room would be a benefit.
I agree with Bill and John - the only issue for me in this image is space around the frame. The detail, HA, pose, all work well together. It IS nicely exposed and ISO 800 is nothing to be ashamed of - although 400 would probably have gotten you the images as well. ;)
I like the scattered branches in the BG but might remove the one small piece that hits the left side of the bird and maybe that section right at the base of the bird above the branch on the right - an easy clone job.
