Default Happy trails Riley... sad day

Some of you will recognize Riley, my good friend's English Shepherd. He has been one of my favorite subjects of all time. Not only that, but he was an extraordinary animal - skilled at agility and herding as well as loving and protecting. Today he passed away, a victim of liver cancer that was only diagnosed today and much too late. He was 13 years old and had been with my friend George for 11 of those years, having been rescued by him from a shelter in the desert. He will be missed.

A correction to my post, since I can't edit it... Riley was just a pup when George got him so he was only 11 years old.

Sure is hard when they pass, but the memories that they leave behind will in time provide comfort. My sympathies to you, Kerry, and please extend them to your friend as well. I love your photo of Riley.

So sorry to hear that, Kerry. Today I learned that a dog belonging to a friend, one that I loved and had photographed several times, died, so I feel your pain.
