    Default Go Fish

Another favorite of mine taken at Ft DeSoto this past spring. A friend and I were shooting the Royal Tern courtship when this seagull went after the tern's fish. A major fight broke out with about 5 birds. It was truly a great moment to see. Don't really know who ended up with the fish as I think they tore it up.

    Cheryl:

Great sense of action, between the birds and they surf.

I like the shooting angle, the somewhat mirrored wing positions, clear sense of what is going on.

I might try some shadow work on the the gull's face.

    Cheers

really like this composition. Love the low angle and wonderful bird behavior. The intertwined wings are fabulous too.

Terrific action, Cheryl. I love images that tell a story, and this is one of them.
Very nice comp and exposure too.
I'd see if selectively sharpening the heads works.

Very cool! Nice of you to have kept your composure and stayed low. Not only is there fighting and water drops flying, but the crashing wave is an important element that adds even more chaos to the image (in a good way of course!!). Only thing is that I would clone or patch out the bright water drop on the tern's crest...there are enough other drops elsewhere anyways

Great action and timing! Like the position of the birds and the fact you can see the fish.

Cheryl, good low action captured here, especially the raised wings. I agree, the waves in the BG adds interest, and maybe a touch more NR on the BG will work.

Love the action here, Cheryl, and the fact that you can witness the thievery going on! The dropets and waves really add a lot to an already action-packed photo.

Amazing action you captured here! love the waves in the back that added drama. Both birds have catchlight in their eyes, which is fantastic! Congratulations for the great shot.

I really like how you all pay so much attention to detail. I never even noticed thatdroplet before and it is a great suggestion Daniel. Thanks for the help.
