In so many ways................ " None are so blind as those who will not see " (Moody Blues)

    Yellow-tailed Cockatoo

No, not all wanted to see a version with tail ....happy now ?

    Yellow-tailed Cockatoo

Why ?.......I have a number of other images with the full tail......the tail in this one is behind many leaves anyway which is why I cropped as is...and I prefer it as is.

    Evening Grosbeak

Nice one Gail especially with complimentary backdrop, sharp as is, no need for any further sharpening imo, catch-light is good, but it looks a bit too central maybe

    Yellow-tailed Cockatoo

Cheers, I deliberately cropped the bottom tail section off as i felt it added nothing worthwhile to the image, but as is brought more attention to the birds head, but easy enough to crop with tail included

    Yellow-tailed Cockatoo

Came across a flock of these feeding high in the Gum trees near home, once on the endangered list they are making a come back now. Canon 7D + 500 f4 + 1.4 x TC.....700mm, f6.3, 1/1000, ISO 640, hand held, manual exposure, no flash.....cropped to vertical, selective sharpen, cloned out a fine...

Eggs and all, very special image for sure, well done Karl

    W

Very nice, especially the eye = very glossy and sharp, but lots of fine detail in the plumage showing as well, only thought woauld be to try to tone down some of the brighter areas on the perch

    Mother's kiss

Love that look and eye, understand about the mud, but wishing there wasn't quite so much oof grass in front, sometimes ya just gotta get what ya can.

    Juvi Osprey in flight.

Wide spread wings and tail, and beak slightly open and all against a blue sky = magic....just a bit of a hot white bit on the upper shoulder

    Green Honeycreeper (Chlorophanes spiza)

Great perch, stunning color, the backlight through the mossy branch is rather nice. Flash was well handled, maybe a tad bright on the nape of the neck......I think the head angle is excellent as is, very natural

    I'm Ninja!

hahahaha.....Ninja indeed ! Piercing eye and stare on this one, he/she has positioned itself nicely on the branch out in full view which is always a great bonus, that crest is excellent, harsh light, but well controlled....I'd take a sliver more off the top

    Cammo - meister

I cant see any bird ?....lol......despite the large oof area it is a great bit of educational photography. That's quite a bit of clone work on the re post, may be worthwhile completing it

    Common Tern feeding Juvie

Exposure is great, love the soft tonings in backdrop, the adults wings look wonderful especially the way the tips are curving, only thing I find a tad odd is the lack of any detail in the sand

    A Sad Tale/Tail

The blue-grey is natural as is, probably a brighter blue in peak breeding season or duller light. Not sure if they drop their tails out of breeding season, I dont think so and the breeding season should be starting within the next 2 months or so.

    Leaves

The leaf veining stands out really nicely in this one, like the bolder glow on the foremost leaves, all seems to work nicely
  17. PhilCook

    Marauder

Liking very much the wispy wingtips, all the editing makes the eye stand out wonderfully and angle of main bird makes for quite a 3D look

    Love is on its way

If looks could kill ! a case of beauty and the beast, or more the point...beast in the beauty. I like it's mysterious mood...and a little bit sinister...there is one little white dot on the right of the head that needs removing
  19. PhilCook

    Red-headed Woodpecker.

Nice, good proportion of tree trunk to bird, very natural composition, exposed nicely and love that eye....nothing really to tweak, maybe blend out the brighter patch in backdrop on the upper area...maybe ?

    Scarlet Robin

Not common here sadly, but do see the occasional one. Nice clear eye and nice simplistic composition
