    Remnants of Light

The last remnants of sunlight quickly fades on a stormy afternoon over the iconic and picturesque Amphitheatre in the Drakensberg mountains. A slow flowing Tugela River reflects the amazing fiery sunset colours, oranges and reds, bringing to an end a great day in the Berg. Location : Zimanga...

    Sidelit Kubu

Thanks for the comments folks. Don, I agree with you. I would have also liked more clouds to the left portion of sky, balancing the composition even more.

    Theme THEME: Mum........help!

Lovely stuff Marc. Well processed and absolutely love the expression on the young Hippo's face. Oxpecker's add detail to a wonderful story told here.

    African Pygmy Kingfisher

Lovely image with great detail and head angle. Love the colours and I think the flash used was to great effect. The dark background helps the bird stand out perfectly IMO. Great stuff!

    Woodland Display

Thanks for all the insight folks. I tried the vertical crop, but because this is almost FF I had no room to create a pleasing vertical, it came out a bit squarish for my taste. But if I had more space to make the vertical crop I would definitely do so. Thanks for the recommendation Alan.

    Female Leopard (Nzilu)

Excellent image Dumay! That eye contact seals the deal for me on this image! Well done bud!

    Sunrise on the Mara

Nice one Morkel! Effective in portraying the great plains of the Mara. I would prefer the image without the road to the right, but not a big distraction. I may have darkened the sky a tad also, but again, just personal preference.

    Eastern Screech Owl.

Great looking image! Very compelling eye's. I like the leaves adding interest to the image!

    Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Lovely image Bill. My only nit here would be the slight banding in the background? Not sure if it's just my monitor but it may be because of gaussian blur to the background? Please let me know if it's not that. Again, a wonderful image!

    Approach

Lovely early morning light here. Great pose and love the splash! Great job on the sharpness with a low shutter speed.

Thanks for the comments folks. @ Randy - I agree with you on that crop idea. Will give it a whirl. @ Karl - the lower mandible is black on the bird.
