    First solo

Neat! Nicely frozen the flight here. I've never been successful with DF flight images.

    anemone

"Subtle" and "soft" were the words that came to my mind even before I scrolled down to read other comments. I guess that's due to the low contrast (a flatter look) you've mentioned and I simply love it !

    Giant water bug

Beautiful! Great details (both informative and image-wise :t3 ) on the bug. Thanks for sharing the setup. Interesting !

    Southern hawker ovipositing

A fine natural history moment Jon. Very well captured with nice details. The eyes curiously get drawn to the sharp ovipositor. Feels very real and as though the DF is right in front of you.

    Flame Skimmer

Beautiful image Diane. Looks like the dragonfly is posing to show off its wings ! It did occur to me that the DF could be turning a little more towards you, but in that case, the wings won't be seen the way hey are now.

    sharing the data

Beautiful image, Miro. Yes, I can completely understand how difficult it is to make such images. You just have a moment's time before the ants get out of your DoF and with MP-E65, it's probably even tougher! Absolutely great job here !

    Spider

One from my archives. Made this image couple of years back by stacking up around 8 or 10 frames for DOF. This spider was sitting still on a plant in my balcony. Equipment: Nikon D300 with Nikkor 105mm macro on a tripod (don't have the exposure details; sorry) Comments, views most welcome.

    Jewelweed

Beautiful image of a beautiful flower. Lovely colour contrast between the orange flower and the green BG.

    Spiderlings

Nice moment there, John. Just wondering how a black and white conversion might look...

    Brook Sticleback

Nice image Steve. It appears as though the head is a bit away from you. Just wish the body was parallel to the camera. (or perhaps my eyes are deceiving me!?)

    Conehead mantis

Beautiful image - tack sharp! Great pose ! Such an interesting looking mantis with lovely texture.

    wasp on sedum flowers

Beautiful image Ron. The stack has worked out well. I have never tried stacking handheld images but this one's come out well. Would only wish for more space in front of the wasp.

    Daisy

Thank you for your views and comments. Yes Jon, I'd not noticed the brown grass at the time of shooting. Need to be vary of these things in future.

    Dragonfly larva

Fantastic details there Jon. Very crisp image. Perhaps a silly/newbie question: how did the larvae end up in the tank - do you harvest them ?

    My Very First Floral Post..ever!

Lovely abstract, Doug. Loved the rich vibrant colours there. Nice panning job. Did you invert this image in post ?I however find the orangish-yellow spot towards right-top, a bit interfering with the harmony of the rest of the image. Might try a 4x5 crop on this frame by cutting off 1 inch from...

    The lioness must feed.

Hard luck Marc ! About this image, what strikes me is the look in the lioness' eyes - staring at you directly with her 'catch'. A fine moment indeed. The brown patch on ULC is a bit distracting but hey, this image is more about the 'moment' than the surroundings. Might try adding a bit of...

    Elephant mud-bath

Thank you Rachel and Andreas for taking time off to review the image. This image was made at 165mm focal lenth @ f/2.8 (SS = 1/2000) First off, I agree that I could certainly have stopped down to f/5.6 or f/8 considering the available light. It just didn't occur to me at that time :) @Rachel: I...
