    Burrowing Owl at Sunset

Love it Walker! Only thing I can add as criticism (and this is merely an opinion) is I'd open the crop up a bit - if it's cropped that is.

    Cucumber Tendril

Way to make an interesting image of something most would pass up Mitch!

    Ready for Chrysalis

Awesome find Allen, in my opinion (and many others), busy is just fine when you catch the right action. Plus, this guy is plenty isolated in the image.

OVERSEAS FLIGHT/ CHECKING A LONG PRIME

Problem solved! Pelican Air 1535. It's meets carry-on dimensional requirements and weighs just shy of 30 LBS loaded. The airline I regularly fly on (American) doesn't have weight restriction for carry-ons (domestic or international) so as long as you're not trying to lug something like 50 LBS +...

    Black Swallowtail

Wonderful image aside - how is this ISO-3200!? Whatever it is you do to handle noise, keep doing it.

    Flower Fly

The summer where I'm from isn't the best time of year for birds, so for the past few weeks, I've been dabbling in macro. I have to say I really enjoy it, and it certainly is a challenge. Getting these little guys on the optimum focal plane to maximize dof is insanely difficult. I didn't quite...

    Black Swallowtail Caterpillar

You really nailed it regarding the focal plane here Allen. You're making a single 200mm f/16 shot look like a stack of 4 images. Great job - it's something I really need to be more conscious of when I'm out shooting. Rich and accurate colors also.

    Indian Paintbrush

I absolutely love these colors Krishna. While I agree with Jon about the position of the subject, I also see a cetain overall balance of color based on what you did here. I think I get why you framed it as such.

    Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui)

Perfect, I wouldn't change a thing here. I like how you were able to keep the blacks right on the very edge. That bg is amazing!

Southern Hawker ( Aeshna cyanea) early stage of emergence

Great find Jon! Good to see you could get an angle to support a nice bg.

OVERSEAS FLIGHT/ CHECKING A LONG PRIME

That's what everyone says Gail! I figured this would be the best place to ask whether or not anyone checks their gear - sounds like nobody does. Anyway, I have a giant Tamrac backpack that fits my camera with the 600 and tc attached. I may just pack that bag empty in my checked luggage and get a...

OVERSEAS FLIGHT/ CHECKING A LONG PRIME

Any recommendations on travelling with and checking a 600 f/4? I figure a standard Pelican with very tight foam should be good enough. Is this what most of y'all do?

    Tree Swallow with Exposed Wing

Thanks Walker, I'll take a second look at those whites.

    Great Blue Heron

Perfect exposure, sharp, good HA and color. Agree with Walker about the dark spot. Only critique beyond the dark spot is the angle is a little high.

    Tree Swallow with Exposed Wing

Tree swallows are quick, unpredictable and can provide some rewarding shots with the right timing and a good amount of luck. I'm always after a good tree swallow shot. This is my favorite of the year so far. Nikon D850 Nikkor 600mm f/4E + TC14E III Induro GIT304L/GHB2 1/1600 | f/5.6 | ISO-800...

    male kestrel in golden light

I don't want to simply agree with everyone else here and would rather give you something different, but I seriously have the same thoughts as everyone else. Second time I've said this today, but these settings are something I would never consider. Between looking at that and one of your comments...

    Duck Fight...

Very easy to get into the moment with this one. I feel like I'm there, great jobbing catching that. I wonder if taking another look at the white balance would improve this any? Maybe it's all the green in the BG that has me thinking that though.

Hmm... This looks like a good place to perch...

Wow, these are crazy Bill! Not something you ever see in my neck of the woods. With the first (hippo under water), I'd take a look at raising the shadows just a bit. Maybe selectively 1-2% in PS. The second one however, I'm not seeing much room for improvement in PP. Although it might be just a...

    Palm Warbler

Thanks Glenn! I think getting better with DoF is my next step. I have this obsession with getting the ISO as low as I can, but I'm sacrificing too much for it. I plan on working on this immediately. Thanks again.
