    Northern Pintail

The details on this shot are phenomenal and evrything else handled perfectly. As someone who shoots birds, I wish that the right wing was more upright, eliminating every bit of shadow. Also, I can't but help notice the different colours in the background, making me think that there might be some...

Theme Female Grant's gazelle pan blur

I love panning shots Marc. This is very good at 1/25. The trick is always to marry the ss to the amount of movement desired. It looks like this guy was moving quite fast, so... to get the amount of movement you have and a sharp enough face and horns, shows skill.

    Feeding time.

A dream sighting! Very well captured. I get goosebumps just thinking about sightings like this.

    Theme Gardenia pride v buffalo

Great sighting and shot. I love the action and the fact that you can see one of the lionesses eyes. Harsh light but hey, I'll take this any day. I agree that you could probably take some of the top here.

Marc, Thanks for the comments. Yes, this is a frame from 2010. What a special time that was!

Polar bear in late golden light

Strong detail and nice light makes this. The perspective is not ideal, as you say.

Thanks Steve. Good points to consider.

    Zebra Duel

Gabriela, Thanks for the comment. It is always helpful to have other input on a image. The composition is tight but I think that makes the image stronger. The story here is the intensity of the conflict and the emphasis on the open mouths and teeth eliminates the need for further context imo...

    Zebra Duel

I haven't posted in this forum in a while. Here is a recent shot of two zebras dueling in the late afternoon. The image was shot near Satara rest camp in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. Canon 7D II Canon 100-400 II ISO 1600 1/1250 F 5.0 220mm

    Good night sleep tight!

I don't comment here often anymore but this pic made me pull the keyboard closer. This is what a photograph should look like. Top composition and well executed.

    Catwalk

I like the fact that you cropped so close at the bottom. To me it elevates the image from a standard cheetah shot into one where the viewer is engaged in wondering why the cheetah seems to float. Excellent Hendri.

    Excuse me!

Thanks for the comments guys. I have many, many frames of these animals in classic side on, front on, eyes-visible, three hippos gaping, three eyes visible poses etc. (I have yet to find a file with four eyes visible while posturing, but I'm looking) I have in many years of observing hippos...

    Breakfast

Rachel, thanks for the comment. I agree that there may have been a perspective that added more but unfortunately the lay of the land didn't permit it. I also had to make decisions based on the direction of the light. This was the first time that I experienced this behaviour and I do have many...

    SCAPE GOATS

What an amazing experience it must have been. You really made the most of it with this shot and the clouds add a lot.

    Pale Chanting Goshawk

Awesome shot Wynand. I like the look of intent in its eyes. It makes me wonder what he is after.
