During the very cold snap we had I found this American Robin keeping warm by chillin' inside this way cool frost-laden cave. It was shielded form the brisk wind, and it was warmer inside there as evidenced (but not visible here) by the steam seeping out at times.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/9, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, NR applied inside the "cave".

Terrific frame. Love the frost details. I have a sprawling evergreen bush outside my back door, beneath my feeders. In times of cold weather or heavy snow, there can be at least a dozen birds inside the protective cover of the bush, sometimes I think there could be several dozen. I wish I could get a camera inside to see them, but I can see a few peeking out as your Robin is here.

Nice one Daniel, love the framing on this and the colours in the robin stand out well against the snow.

Lovely shot Dan, I like the setting it really does make this image a little bit special. Well spotted and beautifully processed.

Hi Dan, not wanting to repeat others, but the framing here just works so well. Good look back pose, good detail throughout, and the colours of the Robin pop so well against the winter setting.
