Finally something decent from this species for my files!! This one landed unexpectedly right there on the sumac branch close to me - I needed to back up a bit to loosen the composition all the while hoping it stayed put. It did. Now to get one in breeding plumage in the future....

Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5.6, ISO 6400, natural light, FF, Topaz NR, a few extraneous twigs removed from the edges.

A sweet frame Dan, nice to see you being comfortable in pushing the ISO after the 7D. Love the jazzy backdrop, but personally I might crop a fraction off the top losing the dark stick rather than cloning. I like the two HL's and orange top right brings that splash of colour to the scene.

I might go into the HSL panel and in Saturation -100 the Purple, see what it does to the subject/perch, it looks better IMHO and doesn't detract from the capture, but then add just under a third of a stop of minus Exp.

Nice looking bird and the colourful BG shows it well...Good pose and HA....The oof part of the branch works well, as it gives a 'clearer' view for the bird to look into....ISO 6400.....a rarity for you Dan.....Great cameras :w3

Gorgeous fall bird, supper-sharp, great pose and head angle, and the color palette throughout is spectacular. I do not think that you could have painted a better background.

A beautiful image, the bird looks very attractive, I can only guess summer plumage it must look spectacular. I like the exposure on the bird but I would be tempted to reduce the brightness on the background just a little.

Daniel, a striking frame in terms of colors and overall composition. We know my personal pref is to make them pop, and you certainly did that! I see the argument that they may slightly overpower the subject, but gorgeous nonetheless.

Gorgeous specimen and dandily processed. I can feel your joy - I'd love to have one like this in my files too.
