I was putting the 1Dx2 through its paces the other afternoon, and got this frame of a Burrowing Owl hunting at sunset. I thought this photo would fit into the May theme perfectly.

Canon 1Dx2, 600 mm + 1.4x, f/5.6, 1/2000, ISO 1000, manual exposure, hand held

Very nicely backlit. I really like all tans and browns in this late afternoon shot. You caught the darker bird just right with the lighter background. Low flying over the weeds give a great environmental feel. Keep that new toy clicking.

A fine shot Doug, I did wonder about lifting the darker plumage a little but on refection I think you have it just right.

Hi Doug, great flying pose with the raised wings, and I really like the rim light on the owl. Nicely separated from the BG, and I do like how the colours of the Owl and BG compliment each other. Well captured.

Are you finding any 'huge' differences from the IDX ?

Hi Doug,
Great example of this month's theme. I like the sun highlights around the bird and the subtle brown colors all work well together. Well done.

Hi Stu. I haven't gotten to do as much with the camera as I would have liked to this point. The standout features to me so far are the improved low light AF (head and shoulders better than the 1Dx), faster frame rate/faster cards/larger buffer, and constantly illuminated AF points. Another strong suit is the ability to boost the shadows with very little noise. The AF is better but how much better I'm not yet prepared to say. The viewfinder has 7D Mark II information displayed in it, which is nice. Not much else I can think of at this point.
