We don't see these guys out on flat surfaces too much, but this lady decided to come out and hand out on the ice for a bit. The spray we see here is the result of her shaking her wet feathers. It was way below freezing temperatures here, and lying on the ice got quite cold! Glad she went back in and swam away for me to finish the shoot lol. Exif shows f/6.3 - no reason for it, I must have knocked it accidentally up from f/5.6, but it still works well.

Super shot Dan, I like the pose and overall composition, the harmonious colours are really what makes it all come together - well done - it's a peach.

It has DC written all over it!

F/5.6 or f/6.3 no problem, perhaps even a wise move?

Hopefully this isn't a blimp and there is more to come Dan, as its a beginning to look like the `Mary Celeste' and few comment, only now post.

Great bird posed so differently than most images I see. I am impressed with the detail in the white belly and breast. Even with the light BG I would easily get frustrated with this exposure.
