Maybe not everyone's cuppa tea but I quite like this slightly querky presentation.
The image is cropped.

Hey Jon ... super nice to see a Redpoll , love it .
But this is not my cuppa tea , sorry .
Nice to see a more " realistic " coloring in the Redpoll ... at least from my POV .
Light was again very tricky and you made the most out of it .
As previous posting the darker parts of the twig do look not " right " in terms of color toning ... might be just me. Too magenta /blue IMHO.
Details and sharpness are spot on

Hi Jon, are you able to adjust things so you are at 'eye level' rather than slightly shooting down?

The BKG is a bit boring, it was better where it was broken up in colour and light, making it more authentic in its nature. Colour, again more you could do I feel.

As presented a sliver more at the top, just a wee bit too tight, as an option you could easily extend top & bottom and have a vertical option. OK it's manipulated far away from the original capture, but if declared...

Steve, this was a none off situation the bird was there for a couple of minutes and I haven't seen it since.
The perch area the bird landed on was far from ideal, it should have been at the other end as it were. The set up area had now been abandoned I will be photographing from a different site and angle before long. Everywhere is waterlogged at prresent so I am biding my time.
A portrait crop didn't occur to me, I agree it would have been better.

Hi Jon,

Pretty little bird, but I'm afraid the image doesn't really work for me either. But I am quite intrigued by the raised wing. Was the bird manoeuvring on the branch or was it "flashing" as Dunnocks often do?

Best wishes,

Gerald

Hi Gerald,
The bird was there monetarily only and it was very nerveous, I suspect some kind of expression of anxiety.
