Courting Pheasant

Photographed just after 6.30am whilst on route to the Little owls, 'Broken tail' was in full vocals trying to attract the females. It will probably niggle some, but the membrane over the eye is just coming into play, but I'm not dropping in a different eye. Shot at a low ISO, so need for any NR, files are super clean and shot at 12fps. The grass had a heavy dew, hence the rather wet and bedraggled plumage.

Love the pose here. Framing is right on. Nice how the background fades away. Like the feather pattern on the chest as well.

Like the morning light on this beauty, Steve. The rich colors stand out well against a nice background. Great calling pose, and I don't mind the nictitating membrane at all.

Hi Geoffrey, I guess I'm just conscious of previous comments over the years relating to Avian, but glad you liked it. I was lucky with the light and just have honed a few more things in this period of lock down. I don't confess to be a great Avian shooter, I just like to share. :w3
