Hi folks ...
i have been very deep in my archive to find this image , a once in a lifetime option to be that close to an Eagle Owl at eye level . It was a very brief encounter as the Owl came and went away very quickly with the provided bait . Got the opportunity to witness this due to " vitamin b " at that time.
At least I got some usable images , albeit they aren´t captured very well by today's expectations . Wish I had a shorter lens at that time. Not enough room at the foot ...
Went a bit OOTB with the processing .... not every ones " cuppa tea " .
Image captured in 2010

Canon EOS 1D MK IV
EF 500 IS L
Tripod

F 4 ; Iso 6400 ; 1/125 sec

Processed with PR 4 ; C1 and PSCC 2025

THX for watching and commenting to my previous threads

Cheers Andreas

I too like the colour grading, love that background with the orange eyes. Don't personally mind the room you have at the feet, but then again, I've never been overly concerned when, in my opinion, non critical elements are cropped (whether by post or by camera).

No reservations from me, this is fantatstic - so moody, ethereal. is that a hedgehog on the left?
Once slight reservation - there appears to be a metal hook at centre bottom ??

THX Kurt and Jon for your kind comments , much appreciated :)

@ Jon .... the " metal hook " is actually the tail of the bait , a Rat !!! You are correct on LHS the pile of spikes is a Hedgehog !!!

OOTB works magnificently here Andreas. Wow.

I just love the overall effect and use of the vignetting. Is that the bait in the lower LLC? If so, I absolutely love that because the eye has to go stumble upon it, as sort of an added treasure in the frame.

Seems like an incredible encounter we all would envy! I can see a version with a slightly looser crop but I'd cherish this image if it were mine!!!

Well done amigo.

Hi Brian .. thx for the feedback , much appreciated .
In LLC it is actually not the bait , at least not what I have used . I used a rat ... see the tail just beside the Owl .
Looser crop not possible , as this is full frame . If I would have had more room , I would go wider as out is too tight as posted .

Cheers Andreas
