An 8 year old image from Etosha. As Andreas mentioned this is a typical Etosha Bull elephant. Incredible animals. I dont know if its the shorter tusks however the Etosha elephants seem to be a little bigger and have a more odd shaped body imho

Hi Basil, iconic capture of an awesome subject in his very bleak and arid environment. How they survive in such harsh conditions is amazing and yes, it must be fabulous to photograph them as they truly are different to what we are used to elsewhere. Love this white dust that shrouds their massive frame, creating a two tone look.

I do like the fact you have the ostrich in shot as this creates scale, something we rarely see in shots and it does give the viewer a nice sense of perspective too.

As presented I think you could have a look at the WB, just tweaking it creates more separation overall, albeit (great word) you were there just an alternative option. Also just pulling back adding some more room all round would be nice, it's a wee bit tight IMHO. Once you get the shot in the bag, think about small in frame or highlighting more the habitat/environment.

Bit of a conflict in kit/techs, you might like to review.

Attached is just my thought.

Hey Basil ... well a nice classy Newbronii image ;) 👏 (y)
Always a good bet for big bulls , this guy has really " long tusks " for that area .
Love the vast landscape in the BG and the classical resting pose .
He is looking gorgeous with the clay sprayed over his body .
From the processing POV I think , you need to go away from your chosen very conservative editing . Whole image is a bit flat and dominated by some kind of " dirty yellows " .... at least I would try to get more oomph into the image.
Funny how small the Ostrich is looking , compared to the big boy . The fact that he is a lot lower does emphasize the effect .

Always cool to see images from places where one has already been
Have you ever been to the west inside the park ?

TFS Andreas
