Thanks Kasra, just had a very similar look & feel of a location in Hungary.
And you threw a proper tantrum the one time I suggested that I knew the location your kestrel was photographed at :ROFLMAO:

Lovely image, Kasra. I love it.
In an ideal world, the bill was fully, clearly visible, so the prey item would stand out.
Excellent work. Looking forward to more.

Sid, if you knew the real reason why, then you might just understand my reaction, anyway that's all in the past and things have changed.

Lovely bird, well timed image with great focus. Having said that, for me it lacks something and I don’t know quite what. I think it is the background being so plain. I took some shots of stonechat a few weeks ago with green backgrounds like that and I felt the same about those. The bird draws the eye but I just need a little more to hold it and make me wander around the image.

Hi Kasra,
Such cool birds to photograph - one of my favourites. I think I first encountered the Hoopoe at that place in Hungary! ;)
Nice action and landing pose with the crest up.
The background is a little too plain for my liking but understand that's how it was. I also find the perch/ stick dominates, possibly because it is so sharp, and pointy. Agree with comments above that the blacks are too dense and perhaps you could ease back on the contrast a little.
Thanks for sharing,

Gerald

Thank you everyone for their feedback and opinions.'arash, steve, sidharth, phill, gerald' Yes, I completely agree that the dark areas, especially the wing feathers, could have had less contrast. Thank you for your attention.

I appreciate all the comments and critiques from my friends.
Best of luck to you all.

Kasra, I lke the shot, I have little to add other than agree with the previous comments... another look at those black feathers maybe worthwhile.

Well well a shot i would like get one day ... so congrats to you for capturing this incoming shot of the Hoopoe .
Apart from the dense blacks and the almost studiolike backdrop i like the image a lot .

Nice work Kasra
