My four year old grandson has been fascinated with collecting fall leaves, so instead of mounting them I thought it would be fun to create an image that I could print for Mom and Dad.

The photo was taken inside my house on a weathered tree trunk slab placed over black fabric and shot under indirect light. The RF18-150 kit lens that came with my R7 is surprisingly sharp and seems to rival my EF 100mm f/2.8 macro. Doing this again I would probably raise the leaves to better separate the leaves from the surface. I could have gone with some specimens that stood out better, but my grandson was in charge of picking the leaves... I was merely his photographer. ;)

Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Love the colour contrasts between the leaves, charcoal stump and black outside. The circular arrangement of the leaves goes well with the stump. Nice idea!
