Snow-Geese-in-main-impoundment-BPN-FRACT---stormy-sky-_MG_9045--Bosque-del-Apache-NWR,-San-Anton.jpg

After spending a bit of time editing Fractastic, the great new eGuide written by Denise Ippolito and Andrew McLachan, I have gotten back to Fracting. Here is one of my recent favorites.

On a rare stormy afternoon at Bosque, I created this image with a borrowed Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L lens (hand held at 16mm) with the EOS-5D Mark II (now replaced by my beloved 5D Mark III). ISO 400. Evaluative metering +1/3 stop: 1/1600 sec. at f/8.

BPN folks who would like to join me on this year's Bosque IPT are invited to apply a $300 discount. You can find the details by scrolling down here. BTW, Denise will be co-leading.

As for the image, I revealed the small group of birds in flight with a Regular Layer Mask with a 50% Opacity brush after applying the Fract on a layer.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

I can't say much about this image, my laptop screen isn't the best but I like the composition, I might have made it into more of a pano but thats just me.......frac is a wonderful effect. Nice

Thanks Paul. Great suggestion!

I think this shot would be good with or without fractilus. I like both versions--OP and pano. The lovely clouds, the expanse of scenery, the birds in the air make this image.

I love both! I get a feeling of the whole world of the birds, all air and sharp wingtips, activity and flight. The birds live in a whirling water-wind place. Really. This shows it well.
