Hi folks ... due to surfing through my archive in search for wildlife images for the other side of the forum I thought I could post older stuff for Avian too :w3:bg3:
Things have changed a lot since 2012 ( time of capture ) for the most part , so I thought I give it a go !!!
Hope you like it .
Image captured on the passage from the Falklands to South Georgia .... 3 rough days on the ocean , not my favorite way of traveling , LOL .

Canon EOS 1D MK IV
EF 300 4,0 IS L
HH

F 8 ; Iso 800 ; 1/1250 sec ( LOL when looking at the shutter speed )

Processed with DT 4.6.1 and PSCC 2024 ; comp was not ideal so I had to add canvas to left and bottom

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous postings

Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas,

I've seen many Giant Petrels in the waters around NZ! I find that their habits are "ungracious" to say the least. I'll have to dig some out if I can and rework them.

But your capture is very nicely shown here - the colour looks quite light to show off all the detail and it looks great. The drop of water on the tip of the bill is super.

I like the background of the breaking waves and the colour of the blue sea is spot on.

I can't help but like it - even if it is a Giant Petrel!

It's a super shot, focus is good as are colours and details, I like the composition, shutter speed obviously OK. Sometimes makes me wonder all these years later and all those thousands spent.....but we like our new toys don't we and I suppose the success rate is higher too.:w3

Thanks so much guys for your kind comments , much appreciated .

@ Gerald .... why are you not looking the Giant Petrel ?

@ Jon .... yeah Jon new toys are fun and things becoming easier and better to capture certain things . But with all honesty ... for a static subject we could get along with old gear , maybe with a lower keeper rate ..... but still can produce great images .

Cheers Andreas
