Well after that storm my portable hide was somewhat worse for wear so I have transferred back to my original hide. Struggling a little to attract anything other than Golfinches' Blue tits and Great tits. I have put some more apples down so hopefully I'll get Fieldfares and Redwings along with Song & Mistle thrushes, hopefully I'll also get Starlings and finches (I have put sunflower, fat balls, peanuts, suet pellets and mealworms.... if anyone can suggest anything else in terms of attractive food I will be grateful).
Image captured under low light and very cloudy/overcast, it is cropped for presentation and I removed a small vertical twig.
 
Well Jon, I have to say this is one of the nicest images you have posted, it ticks a lot of my boxes. Clean, simple, cool colours and to a point, quite commercial.

Yes I think there is a fraction too much above and a 5x4 corrects that, plus being a tad 'picky' I might have cropped or cloned that little bit of perch at the foot, just for continuity.

Backdrop is a killer, plain, but it has subtle additional colours to break it up, and is in keeping with the colour palette. I think it could go magically cooler it -5/-8 temp, but it does illustrate a nice overcast light IMHO. The green hue in the chest I'm guessing is from the surroundings. The lichen ties very well with the GF colours. 👌

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply - much appreciated, glad you liked it. The branch is a part taken from a large bough that was blown down last week, I think it is a Canadian Box tree. The background I was pleased with - this should be readily available now the majority of work has been completed on the meadow and pond areas. Strange thing though over the last few months I have been getting banding in the background - regardless of exposure, I thought maybe this had been induced by some aspect of processing. Now I am not so sure, it may be a fault on the camera, so today I have switched to my second body and that one seems to be just fine, no banding so far!

DC would probably know, however the weather was a real storm!

Sounds like the Sensor, bit of a bugger though, probably best to get it back into OMS. Must say I have almost caught up with you and have been enjoying ProCapture over the last quarter, albeit not really had too much time out in the field.
 
Hi Jon ... a very fine capture of this lovely species , love them a lot .
NIcely processed and do like the perch a lot , superbly separated from the BG .
Truck loads of details rendered in the plumage ... stunning .
Only thing I might see to improve is the overall brightness in the perch and subject .. matter of taste , making this a more friendly looking image IMHO.
But no deal breaker !!!
