The same female as before, however you can never plan that the subject would just stop and lay down right in front of your vehicle and pose and you are the only vehicle. This location is just Leopard heaven.

Subject: Leopard (F) (Panthera pardus)
Location: Africa
Camera: Canon EOS R3
Lens:EF 300 f/2.8L IS II USM
Exposure: 1/2500 at f/4 ISO2500
Original format: Landscape, FF width

Leopard haven indeed!

Beautiful female and such lovely pose, your image gives justice to the species. Do understand the circumstances and I would certainly not start the vehicle to move further away, just super special to be close to her...happy for you, awesome sighting!

Very nice detail and colours...that paw pad grabs my attention...as well as the pretty pink nose...she is still young and in great condition.

Hope you get to see her again next year, and may I take this opportunity to wish you a 2025 filled with amazing sightings and images ☺️

Thank you from the heart for inspiring me year after year, since 2013. Also for feedback and for taking the time to help with PP. I could not wish for a better tutor and friend, Steve, very grateful.

Warmest regards

Gabriela

Hi Gabriela, apologies in the late reply.

Just oh so gorgeous and very relaxed with our presence, just sat there obviously not hungry and chilled again, just like your local 'Boys', BTW great spot with that kill, albeit rather sad what it was, kudos (another great word) in finding it!

It's amazing the abundance of Leopards, got spoilt here. :)

Can't believe 6 months to go, before catching up with some old BPN folk again, but got three extra nights too, a trade off, so fingers crossed. If your trip doesn't clash then be great to hook up again and the folks would love to see you. :)

Thanks again and yes have a good one yourself and a safe 2025, will be in touch once you get connections back up. I need also to add something else too, once I remember, just if they are still messing with the lines you can access these replies.

Give Carl my best too.

Thank you Steve,

Would be really cool if you get to see this leopard lady again! And many others 😊

We have lots of leopard too but they mostly like hanging about in tall trees, deep shade, far from the roads. It's so hot here in December. And sadly I am mostly at work but luckily my boys make themselves available for a photo shoot every now and then. Even though I changed vehicle they seem to be as relaxed as before, mind you I do speak to them hoping they recognise me...😅

We must get in touch and have a look at those dates... happy to confirm we'll be in the KTP in May and KNP in September.

Have comms but using data at the moment, hold thumbs the local IT guys sort things out, a week without wifi is just too long...

Warmest regards,
Gabriela

Steve - great shot but for me the leopoard looks "too bright" compared to the background, I don't mean overexposed. It gives me the impression that the lighting has been very purposefully manipulated - nothing "wrong" but to me I find it a little hard to believe.
Having said that the leopard is shown to very good effect.

Hi Jon, I know exactly what you mean, and it just comes back to how I wanted to process it. How many times have you said with your own images that you have gone 'off piste.' The image was is flat light so time for a change, a bit like the LBR, you felt the sky was too 'deep', I wanted something rich, deep, saturated, going a bit bolder to offset the LBR colours.

Just because the cameras can deliver 30-400fps do I just post a selection from the burst and leave it at that, no, I want to treat each 'approved image' on its own merits and where some are very reflectful of the time of day, location etc ie the KF, others maybe all about the time of day and where detail or content become secondary, its all about the light.

This trip, gave me a truck load of wealth in terms of pushing myself more, shooting at all times of the day, tweaking the gear at times to achieve the capture, but ultimately, a huge amount of fun, but also the encounters were very cool.

I will be interesting to see what you make of the posting as and when the are uploaded.

No worries as we have sold Canada, so may not be going back this year so we can talk as and when, but you have some fantastic places on the itinerary. 👌

Absolutely, it a case of horses for courses.

Three months and we're off to the KTP, yay ! Starting to pack soon...This time not taking the sat phone... happy to be cut off from work and all things...😉

I know the feeling Gabriela, but even in the bush, the phone still rings.

BTW if Carl does migrate, tell him I will get some CF Exp cards which he will need, as I will be getting more for our trip and you can't buy cheaper so he can save the funds.
