What I started with ad still one of my favorite subjects. Bit of tootsie blur, something I often try for when they are eating, but not in this case.

Nonda,
I love squirrels too.

The image is sharp and well exposed.

If you were on a tripod, I might have stopped down a bit for more. The resulting increase in DOF could be used to bring the foreground bark in focus. For the most part I like foreground elements in focus , however not everyone does.

To make sure the increased DOF effects the bark and not the background, lock your camera's AF (or switch to manual focus) and then roll the zone of focus toward you. Check with the DOF button to make sure your subject is still sharp.

Knowing the noise characteristics of the 30D, if you felt it necessary, you could increase the ISO for more shutter speed with very little increase in noise.

James ,

Thanks hugely on the DOF info!!! I often do the foreground out of focus, but that isn't always, as in this case, the best thing and now I know how to deal with that..COOL!
