Lake Morton 2019_08_06--102-Edit.JPG

Summer doldrums in Florida, migrants beginning to arrive but not in any numbers, so turning to summer residents to photograph. These large, heavy bodied birds have established a feral population in Florida. It seem a lot of things like to live here, from people, to birds, to pythons and iguanas. This image was captured at Lake Morton in Lakeland, Florida last week. Learn more about Lake Morton in the BAA Middle Florida Photography Site Guide available on the Birds As Art Online Store. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Lake Morton is really a nice place to do bird photography with tame subjects.

Regarding the image, it looks good no changes from me. I would play around with a different crop (may be to take some canvas at the bottom as reflection is not adding much)

Details look really nice.

Almost everything looks top noch to me. I like the light against the dark water, it adds some interest to an otherwise simple frame. Great details, exposure, pose and IQ. The whites might be a little grey and that could be fixed in selective color.

The contrast really makes this image, so good work on that. Details look good, especially on the head where they need to be!

I have a hard time buying summer doldrums in Florida! Between Ospreys, Spoonbills, Gallinules, and other photogenic residents I'd never get bored! Try Coastal CA where we have zero from May to Sept. Rest of the year is great though.
