Hi folks ...
one from yesterdays afternoon , as you can see I placed a hazelnut very visible in the perch trying to capture the hammering onto the nut to open it by the WP . Sadly it did not work as I wanted , as the light was not only side for a really fast shutter speed to freeze the motion . Might have tried a lower speed ... to more dynamic version . Will try that today if weather allows . On the other hand the images do look kind of odd ... as the WP does close his eyes while hammering the nut . Well anyway great fun to play around with....
Light was flat so the light fall is artificially created ... in post , some might like , some don´t

Canon EOS R1
RF 400 2,8 IS L + 2x TC
Tripod

F 6,3 ; Iso 8000 ; 1/2500 sec

Processed with ACR and PSCC 2025 ; full frame ; kept the image warmer this time compared to previous WP posting

THX for looking and commenting to my previous postings

Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas, Good and sharp well focused etc, quite like the composition and pose and lighting. I would also suggest a slightly broader view to show the width of the strump - possibly to hint a little environment just by way of shawing a little variation.
I appreciate you are after the "action", using the hazel nut is not a bad idea but I would suggest embedding the hazelnut deeper so it is not visible as bait or make smaller holes and push peanuts in.
The eyes are frequently an issue ...just keep shootin' ...........don't forget to get some shots with the tongue out (y)
I know you like those mosses and lichen colours,....... still a little dazzling for my taste???

THX Jon .. LOL about the moss and lichen colors , well just different tastes ;) :)
Last image was wider , so I took shots narrower .... and the nut , well I can live with it , but will try to push it deeper into the perch .
What do you mean by " the eyes are frequently an issue " ? No monkeying AT ALL with the eye !!!
Will try to get the tongue out ...
The next week and today no shooting possible ... back to work :ROFLMAO:😱
Have. great week ahead

Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas "What do you mean by " the eyes are frequently an issue " ?"
what I meant was that when you take bursts of images it is suprising how many display the eye lids over or partly over the eye - i.e. not suggesting any adjustments to the eye. The answer (for me) is just use a fast drive on the camera and then there are plenty of images to choose from.
