A very good evening and Happy New Year to you, dear Steve 🥂

Your image depicts one of the bravest, boldest creatures in Africa... the power of those menacing teeth and strong jaw not easy to match...
Typical hyena stance, love the pose and focused look, was she about to give chase to the jackals?

Well composed with great colours and lovely detail. I notice the subject's teeth are well worn but she is in great shape... pink healthy gums, tummy full, dried blood on her coat, some mud, oh and some ticks...the works! She might have had cubs, just guessing?

Enjoyed viewing, so thank you so much for sharing. I sincerely hope you come back to Africa this year and have lots of special sightings and images to share with us. My apologies for being so scarce here on BPN, at times circumstances keep me away from my computer but I do take great pleasure in viewing as well as sharing images, whenever possible.

Warmest regards,
Gabriela

Super shot Steve, I have a slight reservation over the base of the image, did you use a grad filter? If so I would suggest making it a little less apparent.

And a Happy New Year to you too Gabriela, albeit you were up later than me. :) 🥂

LOL Gabriela, they just seem constantly hungry, but I just loved all that matted fur.

A happy New Year to you too.

Thank you, perhaps Jon, can't really remember, but it was probably less than a third of a stop.

Scruffy smelly things, them hyenas...but I love them to bits, never boring!
And yes I made it till 12 on New Year's Eve, thought you did too but then realised you were two hours behind, LOL.
