Hi folks ...a very fresh shot from this afternoon , taken at my set up
Buzzard took flight from a base perch ( which I removed in post ) to fly to another perch , getting his bait .

Canon EOS R1
RF 400 2,8 IS L + 1,4 TC
Tripod

F 4 ; Iso 16.000 ; 1/1600 sec

Processed with ACR and PSCC 2025 ; slight crop from LHS

THX for looking and commenting to my previous postings

BTW ... Happy New Year

Cheers Andreas

Great stuff Andreas the Buzzard looks very good indeed. I get the impression a few of us (including me) are playing around with masks in various attmpts to make the subject stand out from the background. From my POV I think it is worthwhile - so long as it is beleivable, sometimes the subject looks a little unrealistically bright against the background. For me this image fits into that category, I think it is a good idea to darken the background a little or brighten the subject a little.. but not too much, or not quite so much as this.

THX Jon ... glad you like the action captured .
I would agree with your " reservations " about the difference or the artificially created " standing out " of the subject in general , always tricky to find a " believable " balance . But in the end it is kind of art ... what we are producing and tastes do differ . So sometimes I do go more away from " as shot " ... sometimes less .
As you might think ... this time slightly more .

Cheers Andreas

Really nice. I don't feel the image looks artificial or that the bird looks "cut out" because it was overcast and there was little to no light direction.

Hey Andreas,
Time spent on your setup certainly seems to be providing you with great results.

I love the dramatic pose - position of the wings. And of course all that fine detail on the Buzzard. The light snow maker the environment look quite special. I like the contrast in the light between the bird and the background - makes it stand out nicely.

Thanks for sharing,

Gerald
