It's Been Great, But Time Goes On ...

Help Support BirdPhotographers.net:

I need to be honest. I kept my subscription for couple of years I believe. But I hardly got any feedback for my one or two photos I posted. I lost interest and discontinued my subscription. I never understood what is the way for someone to notice my posts and give feedback. I believe there were other folks also in my situation. Hope the new owners spend enough time to make sure new customers stay and find some value in the money they invest !

But I respect Arties idea behind running such a web site and from the comments I see many have benefited, except for a few like me.

Hi Roommate, As always on forums like these, you only get what you put into them. Our advice to new folks has always been: comment on five images for every one that you post. I think that I and most of the Moderators are in the neighborhood of 10 or 20 comments for every post ... Bottom lines:

1- You should have asked sooner.
2- It's never too late to learn here. I do it all the time :)

with love, artie
ps: we roomed together in a fancy condo in Tierra Verde near Fort DeSoto Park.

Hey Artie -

Thanks for getting and keeping this forum running! I too have been absent for some time, mainly because my international guiding opportunities have exploded and I'm rarely in the US (i.e. at home), but I know you poured a lot of yourself and your expertise into this site. I learned a lot from the people with whom I here interacted. It's a great community, and you should be proud of what you created. Stoked to hear it will live on in some way/shape/form. If my guiding life calms down, I hope to find the time to re-engage. In the meantime, it's back to Africa for 26 days on Thursday. Taking a group of four birders/photographers through Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia. After that it's South Africa and India to finish the year! Cheers!

Hey Artie, this has always been the best community for anybody serious about wanting to improve at wildlife photography and post-processing. All these years later, it's still the best (and maybe the only) place to learn. Many thanks to you and to all the mods and veteran members who have built and contributed so much to the community. All the best.

Hi Arthur ... thanks for the development and keeping it running all the years , great stuff !!!
Learned a lot through exchange and discussions in the forums , even met some folks privately .... on and offline .
My first " personal " contact with you took place in Lünen ( Germany ) when you held a talk at the GDT festival , second happened on the South Georgia cruise back in 2012 ... time flies by .
Remember you came around with your pleasing blurs etc in Lünen ... leaving folks puzzled if that is good or not ;)😱.
Well well ... over the years things have changed and you have a strong opinion what is " good " or not in photography ... but always inspiring going off track at times . Albeit I do not share your thoughts ... in many cases , but that´s how out it is !! How boring it would be , if we all have the same thoughts !!

Thx for all the effort you put into all the things around BPN and nature photography in general !!!

All the best for you , where ever it does take you

Kind regards Andreas ... the single ( active ) BPN member from good old Germany :)

Artie:

It has all been said, but being a membrane and then a moderator on BPN changed my photography in many positive ways. Critiquing images in a thoughtful way really made me think about the photo and the processing and hopefully helped others as well. I miss the days with you, James, Daniel and myself floating around Tampa Bay or working the angles at the Venice Rookery.

My best wishes for you moving forward, and yes, it would be great for Daniel and myself to pop down in the spring!!

Randy

Hi Artie
Thank you for launching BPN back in 2007. What a platform you created with the original crew!
You are still one of my main bird photography inspirations and this is the best platform for any budding wildlife photographer; whether birds, mammals, macro or whatever.
The best things I learned right here, nowhere else.
Stay safe, and all the best mate
Don't hesitate to get in touch if you ever make it down under.
Big hugs

Oshkosh

Thanks for your kind words, Akos. (Ah, spell check wanted to make you Amos again but this time I caught it.) I am not sure that I will make it down under before they put me down under :)

with love, a

Artie, sure hope you're safe and out of harm's way out there in FL. Glad Milton roared off Florida into the Atlantic. Even so, 15 inches of rain in a day and 85 MPH sustained winds sound horrific! Best wishes.

this is one the best community not only because amazing photos but the critique aspect is what i liked a much. So much to learn for any new-bie. I always ask people to just join this community and go through each photo and comments. Good to be part of this community since 2010 almost 14 years now. Lot to learn from you Arthur Guruji.
