Hello Steve,

This is something different! Definitely moody and for me interesting how dark you went with the eles but without losing any detail. The paler/grey background is in great contrast with the foreground and helps bring the subjects forward. I like the sky a lot. As well as the threatening pose from the ele. Been wondering what Peter D. would think of this, I gather he'd like it ;) I certainly enjoyed viewing, thank you so much for sharing!

Warmest regards,
Gabriela

Hi Gabriela, seems ages between exchanges, I know Tinternet has been extremely poor, working ridiculous hours and no electricity, so great to hear from you, guess it's the only mechanism currently?

Like Dan C, it's so nice to shoot with WA lenses, great fun and also adds a different perspective. The shot was quite monochromatic, so no loss there in converting into a very punchy, pushed B/W. The sky is really easy to pullout, no hardship in PP, you have been doing this within the Nikon videos.

Indeed, would be curious to know... did you see the muddy baby, that was hilarious, as he/she just could not get a purchase and kept sliding about.

Hope you had a good weekend and just send you some new items for the trip.

All the best
Steve

A very good evening to you Steve,

You said it so well, ages between exchanges... have electricity now but working from dawn to dusk, let us hope my plan works and from mid-March with two qualified pharmacists in the dispensary I should be able to return home from work while the sun is still shining ☺️
Back to your image, forgot to mention... what I like most is that trunk pointing forward. Leads my eye to the ele in a very pleasing way. And yes I did see the cutie muddy baby and I think it's adorable, what lovely encounters you had and hopefully some more soon, you now know what to expect (although bear in mind, there's always the unpredictable😉)

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the evening,

Warmest regards,

Gabriela

Hi Gabriela, apologies for the late reply and hope you are keeping well, just really busy with content stuff for inclusion on YT, plus we have been doing more content 'Deepdive' re Darktable & Ps R1/5MK2.

Yes, thats what I liked too, pulling you towards the big old unit. The location was incredibly muddy, but great fun, sadly the company haven't updated for the new bodies which is a pain, but you should think about getting it for the Z9 and your KTP trip. Also fun to go more 'beefier' on the B/W just for a change and to break the full colour option.

Glad you saw the baby eye, so cute and adorable, he/she gave a lot of laughs on that encounter.

All the best

No need to apologise Steve, I am the one who should do that. Really hope those big changes I am making at work will give me the much needed time to catch up (both here on BPN as well as in terms of learning 😉)

Back to your image, POV is everything here. And yes the trunk, of course! The scene resembles the environment at my home, we've had so much rain and now just mud everywhere. I believe the KTP had a lot of rain too, not sure what to expect in May but hope it's dry so we can spend some time at the waterholes. Would love to photograph again a brown hyena ☺️

Chat soon, hope to hear from you and your companion at the weekend, a little banter would be really nice😁

Warmest regards,
Gabriela
