These little guys are not easy to get out in the open and away from the protection of their mother.

Hi Marc Like the crop focusing on the elethin and just showing a bit of momma the elefat :) Might just give a little more room on the right for the tusk !!! .. great setting !!!

Seems today everyone is pulling the shots 'out of the bag'!:D

Marc this is really good, the soft, gentle light, fine detail in both elephants, the crop (to me, is right;)) and the hardened mud all make towards an excellent image. ;) Love it!!!

Being really picky now, but the dark, black area rhs edge by the leg, might make that part of the BG colour, as my eye keeps getting drawn to it? But no big deal!

Nice one.

Nice image Marc. Nice soft light and the texture of the mud is great. Cute little guy. I see what Steve is talking about with the dark spot rhs and agree making it the bg color would be nice. TFS

Hi Marc,

I really like the crop you have chosen here to empahsise the scale.

On first glance I had not noticed the dark area, I was drawn to the main character. On further inspection, and looking for it, I can see that it would be better without the dark area.

Marc.
Cute baby and nice image of the baby in nice soft light. I don't like the mother's face half cut off. I think the image would work better (at least it does for me) if the mother's tusks were cropped out. Then one would see just the mother's legs and the baby. Also a little less open space on the left. That crop would make it a great image for me.

I think you have the makings of beautiful image but for me the crop does not work , too much space on LHS .And I want to make eye contact with mother .
I am all for thinking out of the box and experimenting with crops , so applaud you on that.

Hi Marc, excellent detail on the little guy, and I like how you have included the parent. What would make an even greater image is the little one all by himself, in that BG. Hope you managed to separate him, but I know how the parents protect them from wandering away.

Well Marc, you have them going here. One of those special images that push people out of their comfort zones... So many different crop views .... Stay put!!! by design if it can create that amount of differing views it has to be regarded as successful. (an image needs to create some sort of reaction, emotion or trigger some sense...doesn't matter whether it's good, bad or indifferent, or all, pat on the back)... stick with AS IS and enter it in competitions.... what the heck do we know anyway. best regards, Dave

David, this sums up exactly what I have always said, but perhaps never found all the right words in one. totally agree 110%, spot on.

BTW unless it's © to you, I might have to borrow it from time to time. ;)

Agree Steve,
David has a way with words, and has described different views/opinions on photography very well.;)

Also like it as presented. They baby appears very confident and there's just enough of the mother visible to show where he gets that confidence from.
