I visit this area intermittently, I "revisited" this old image using the more recent facilities available in PSCC, all comments welcome.

Hi Jon, that's a gorgeous scene with a lot of rugged beauty with the rocky hills and turbulent skies. The range of greens complimented by the reds and blue-green water work well together. It seems to me that the brush in the center left and shadows working their way up the hill on the right side detract a little from the photo, where I keep finding my attention drawn away from the stream. Just my thoughts... I don't know that I would do any better given the opportunity.

Thank you Dave, I'll take another look and lift the darker areas a little.
All the light effects are generated by me, the light was flat as a pancake, I posted to see if anyone thought I had made a real botch up. I am not much of a landscape photographer so the more comments Iget the better it is for me.

Jon - definitely, absolutely not botched. But maybe something like this? I lifted the shadow areas, emphasized the converging streams and brightened the rocks to bring out their details. I also added some color grading on the hills in the background and brightened the overall picture to bring the scene out a bit.

Dave thanks very much for taking time, I like what you have done, I must pursue color grading, I have tried a few times and think it can be a very valuable tool. I think your version is better!

Hi Jon, nice to venture into another arena, but also to revisit old files, albeit (great word) not sure 'Colour Grading' is the correct tool, but what do I know. Overall it just looks flat and Dave's RP has lost the depth you initially had. I don't think you were too far off on the OP, but think about the lighting as an option.

Not saying this is right by any shape or form...

Hey Jon ... for sure a nice landscape captured .
I am by far not the landscape expert ... when it comes to see the image and edit it in the end , but my initial thought was when looking at the image you have " randomly created D&B effects " across the scene. Specially in areas that are not really important elements ion the frame , IMHO .
I do like your basic darker exposure and the chosen WB ....
If this was mine .... I would use the river as the main subject and keep all the rest as side subjects , meaning keeping the river and the surrounding areas kind of light and the rest fading into darker tones . If you D&B the surrounding rocks and bushes ... I would use masks to paint the effects through and not on a blank mask . Hope you understand what I am talking about .
Will not post an RP ... as there are already two examples ;)

Good to see you venturing into other genres . Landscape photography is quite cool .... but a very difficult genre , IMHO.

Steve, having difficulties accessing the site but at last here I am. Thanks for the repost, as you say who knows what is right. The light was entirely flat so I just tried to make something appealing. i quite like your version too though it seems to be overall a bit yellow to me.
