Hi Steve,

I'm liking this very much. You have done very well balancing the ladies in the shade with the brighter sunlit background. It looks very beautiful to me.

At first I wondered if it would not have been preferable to have the right-hand lioness also looking more towards the camera, but decided that the story told by having her looking out is more important.

Colour, light, detail, composition, subject - all boxes ticked in my view!

Hello stranger, trust all is good at your end?

Glad you liked it, just a little different, but what it doesn't show is the other eleven lionesses behind the camera, a huge pride and incredible successful. Doubt I will see this amount in the coming weeks, but hopefully a product/different trip, but who knows... it's wildlife.

Mean and lean, those girls... What lovely sighting, Steve. You say there were thirteen altogether? Cubs too? Pretty amazing:S3:

I suppose you had support for your gear, the girls look sharp at this SS. Taken early morning, yes?

Good composition and I love the pose with subject on the LHS of the frame looking back, the little anthill just in the right place to 'elevate' things a little and help draw the eye of the viewer. Well seen and nice thinking behind the image... PP as usual, gentle and precise:w3

I have nothing to impress you with from my last trip but do have lots of folders with images taken here at home which I have not touched yet due to all sorts of reasons. Strangely, we have had electricity for the past month with no interruptions, some say it is because elections looming...

So yes, anything is possible in Africa...But one thing is for sure, wildlife is still abundant and so amazing and beautiful, in this war ravaged continent of ours. What we need to do is allocate more wild areas to those animals whose space is being reduced by human impact (deforestation, poaching, etc).

Back to your image, must say I like it too, very much. Happy to see Gerald back, hoping to see some of his images here in the Wildlife Forum.

Haha, say thanks to Carl for opening the cages, but it still took a lot of skill to track them all at this new location. Awesome doesn’t come close here as you know with some really cool and exceptional sightings. Great to meet some key people and it’s now putting pressure to return next year!!!!
Thanks again and I think the kit survived the unexpected dousing, but most need to go back to Canon for a big deep clean. :bg3::wave:

I wasn’t expecting all of the cages to be open all at once, the last three days were biblical in footage. :w3

Now starts the mountain of Editing, but the location has ask for images, so we will see.

Steve, I am sure we'll see each other next year, things are going well on this side (work-wise) and I plan to take more time off. Very exciting times ahead, so looking forward:5
