Keeping a respectful distance and trying to get an optimal viewpoint was not easy at all this day. This image is cropped from portrait orientation.

Hi Jon ... this one does look way better from the posing POV , all details and the impressive antlers clearly visible , well done .
Yes keep your safe distance , I think you have been quite close ... looking at your techs.
Nice details and sharpness ...
Colors looking pleasing as well ...
I might up the exp ... as the sun was involved in the scene .
All around a solid good capture , maybe a bit room all around would give the stag more space

Hi Jon, without question your PP has taken a very big U turn... for the better. Both colour and sharpness have dramatically improved and where it needs to be, no more fiddling.

If the original was portrait and cropped, then going for a more looser crop would help the subject, but keeping it closer to the RHS, avoiding a central POV. If you had any frames further on, then that raised front leg would have been a cool addition. No idea on the location, but could a lower POV been better, rather than what appears to be slightly looking down? Shooting lower would also help the BKG.

Impressive rack.

Hello Jon,

Beautiful Red Deer with gorgeous antlers, well seen and taken! Do realise it is not easy to capture the species, suppose they are very skittish?

Nice pose and I like the raised leg, subject looks alert, ears slightly forward. I quite like the positioning of the Deer within the frame but perhaps a bit more space around him would be good, maybe top and bottom?

Colours look good here, also nice details and sharpness. Well exposed with good DoF.

I like it 😊

Kind regards,
Gabriela
