It's a bit of a cliche but I felt it had to be done - at the time!
Hand held image captured from a hide in Scotland, cropped (larger than I would normally) from Landscape format, some minor tidy up of twigs.

OM-1 150-400mm @155mm (310mm equivalent FF)
ISO 4000, 1/2500 sec f4.5

ACR/PSCC

Yep, very much so Jon, as you said, very 'yesterday', think Will was ahead of the Curve on this one, but as you were there, why not. :bg3:

I like the outstretched paws and obviously the only position was head on, so its just pick your point and wait. I do find the OOF log is a bit dominate likewise the blue cast, perhaps loose a bit off the foot here? I might crop just above the brown blob on the very outer on the RHS. With your set up you would gain more DoF, shooting this normally I feel you would runout of DoF at f/4.5.

Is this with PF as I think you said the Beavers with with him?

Thanks Steve, I have slightly differing crops, this one I took small in the frame deliberately to increase DOF, the foreground log was a big problem, quite a bit was cropped and as it became portrait from landscape I didn't wantto crop much more. I see the blue cast, I colour corrected and also removed some blue.
Yes I arranged through PF but no need to do so - you can book direct, I think the intention was to go to the hides for day time and beavers for night having said that I did beavers morning and evening and I got an extra session at the hide FOC due to a mistake made by PF, so no complaints from me!.
I think I have better quality squirrels to come, I wasn't blessed with the best lighting conditions.

Smaller in frame to increase DoF, don't understand???

So why didn't you shoot portrait originally, screams Portrait?

OK, if you cropped to 10MPX remember 8-10 was in the early days of Digital and we were pleased with that, plus you are not printing, just posting in Social Media.

Hey Jon ... you made me a happy camper with this image , nicely done !!!
Can´t follow your and others thoughts about being a cliche or something else ....
Might have been photographed many times by hundreds of folks ... but every frame is different and as long as we are having fun , photograph it the cliche-way or whatever one wants to call it . Way more interesting than the hundreds of images ( albeit good quality stuff ) , of Lion , Cheetah , Elephant , Tiger , Kingfisher and so forth ...... as it is action going on . So hopefully you enjoyed the shooting and I hope to see the better ones .
Would have loved the option in terms of location like you had , shooting with a short lens to gain DOF .... at my place this is not possible due to the crappy BG .That´s the advantage of a commercial set up ....

About the image , well captured and I quite like the depth ... albeit the perch is a tad dominant . Nice fine details and the focus seems to be right on the money . BG does look very pleasing .
I would try to burn the perch .... and get rid of your beloved blues :bg3: , maybe you can fulfill my fetish of the annoying blue/cyans

TFS Andreas

Andreas the next one will have less blue, I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the hide, the owner encouraged me to place fresh perches whenever I wanted to so that feeling of "emptiness" I previously had experienced at a set up where I had to sit in the hide and not come out was much less.
