went shooting for an hour before sunset, not much activity but a few shorebirds. picked up something a bit more challenging : sandpipers. I had never been able to come up with quality sandpiper in flight shots before, they are only 4" and fly very erratically , the A1 is the first camera to have both the resolution and the AF / speed to do this stuff not to mention the optics that can deliver tack sharp frames even with the 2X TC at 1200mm handheld on a 50 mega pixel sensor. came home with 1500 frames, 95% plus tack sharp. almost hard to believe :Whoa!: you can even see a bit of mud on the bill.

A1 600GM + 2X (1200mm) ISO-2500 f/8 1/4000 sec handheld processed with C1P.

Simply incredible on all counts. I have the same gear and can only dream of doing something like this either hand holding or on a tripod. BTW, this is an adult Western Sandpiper in breeding plumage. And wit the relatively short bill, this is almost surely a male.

How large a crop?

Congrats Arash. Far from an easy shot to get.

Nice light, plenty of detail and nice contrast against the blue water.
