This is one I captured last week from the shore in my hometown. Always wanted a shot like this. I managed a few frames with different flight poses. The Terns and Gannets were diving closer to the shore than usual, but I still had to use the 2x to get a decent photograph. HH. ACR and PS.

Hey Will ... this is looking fantastic for me from the action POV , glad you managed your long awaited wish .... :5
Wish I could call this mine ....LOL .
A shame about the shadow on the subject .. but hey this is complaining on a high level
Very nice to have some thin clouds to break the blue monotony .
Hope you have more luck with these

Superb shot and TFS Andreas

Hi Will, so you had all the 'Florida' weather last week when we had the grey, dreich weather. :bg3:

Glad that you had the sun to keep ISO down and blue skies to make the camera lock on a lot easier and stick, so you could achieve your goal in getting this shot. Perhaps shooting earlier/later in the day may have created more softer tones and less dramatic blacks & shadows, but hey, you nailed it. Having the sky interspersed with wispy bands of thin clouds helps and adds context to the scene. I assume sand eels are more in abundance with you?

Well done, perhaps a 'wee dram' is in order, or two.

Will, the action is stupendous really!

I think you processed the whites very well and the premise overall is very nice, even the thin white striations behind.

I'll echo the shadow comments, really a bummer.

My first thought was about that shadow, so I agree with the others. However, this is a fun and dynamic image and it had me look for quite a while to take in the action. I love the fact that the eel is facing the tern, and man, that far wing look great with all those feather textures.

Brilliant work. I am a self confessed tern addict and spend hours watching them. Always a joy to see others shots especially when they are done so well
