Slow day at the park, but there were some opportunities for some common birds. I think this is a Swamp Sparrow, but I always have trouble with sparrow ID.

Tonal depths look very good and pleasing pose, the background looks ideal, I may have been tempted to eliminate the vertical branch.

Surely a Song Sparrow. Get yourself a Sibley. I liked the gold on the right but I did not like the branch or the square crop so I took some liberties with the repost.

This looks like a Swamp Sparrow to me - but yes, a Sibley is worth it if you don't have one. I'm not a fan of the square crop here, but I'm ok with the extra branch (go figure!). Looks like you may have lifted the shadow on the branch, underneath the sparrow? Perfect head turn BTW.

Thanks for the RP Artie. It looks good with the closer crop and gold background.

Dan/Ray - its funny, but I think I spend more time deliberating over cropping than anything else. I'm glad at least one person is ok with the branch... As it turns out I hadn't done anything with the shadow under the branch. I made a minor contrast adjustments but didn't see a need to play with shadows and highlights for the image.

Sibley's is on my list for the holidays.

Thanks much, everyone.
